BREAKING NEWS: UC experiences “Blip” of power outage
By BRYNNA WILLIAMSON/Vice Editor-in-Chief
At approximately 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, the lights in the UC suddenly went dark. They flickered, came back on, then all was dark again.
After a moment, everything was settled back in its natural state; however, the uncanny experience left some students feeling unsettled.
“Kinda creepy,” commented one student worker in the Career Success office.
A generator outside worked to turn the system back on. For a period of about 10 minutes, only half of the lights in the UC were functioning.
While UT Tyler’s physical plant said that they were “aware that it happened,” they said that they did not know at the time what caused the power outage.
Joe Berthiaume, UT Tyler’s Executive Director of Housing Communities said that all seems to be working now.
Andy Krouse, the Executive Director of Facilities Management, was unavailable at the time of this article’s publication.
Updates on what caused the blip will be provided as given.
UPDATE: The power outage appears to have taken places on multiple places throughout campus, including CAS.
