There was a watch part for March Madness in the UC Theater. Fans all over campus gathered to watch the Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship Game.
The event took place out in the foyer beginning at 5 p.m. included pizza, chicken tenders, chips and drinks. Students could even partake in , cornhole games. Staff members gave students a chance to win prizes such as a JBL speaker and a 40-inch Roku TV, as long a they signed slips of papers and selected a team who they think would win the championship.
Once the game started, students fled to the UC Theater to catch both University of North Carolina and Kansas in action. During the commercial breaks, staff members asked college basketball trivia questions and awarded prizes to those who answered the questions correctly. A prize was given at halftime to a lucky person who could show off their best dancing moves.
During the game, supporters of both teams cheered and jeered whenever their teams would make or miss a bucket. The teams kept the game close and excitement grew as the game went go back in forth in scoring.
As the final buzzer sounded, Kansas emerged as national champions, defeating North Carolina 72-69, winning the college’s fourth national championship. The night ended as viewers who supported Kansas began to whoop, yell and record their enjoyment as their team won. The event brought students and staff members together for one night to celebrate college basketball’s biggest sporting event.
