Every year, UT Tyler’s Global Quiz Night connects students to each other through trivia, candy, costumes and door prizes. Hosted by the UT Tyler Honors Program, this year the event took place on Oct. 27 on the Patriot Plaza.
TEAMS
Students were divided into groups of five to eight participants to form a team. With one member of each group leading as the captain, teams competed against each other to score the most points in each round of trivia.
TRIVIA
The night consisted of six rounds of trivia, each presenting a unique category.
The trivia began with Geography, where participants were asked to label several countries on two maps within 15 minutes.
The next categories to be played were Sports, History, and Math & Science. After the 15 minute intermission, the remaining topics were Engineering & Technology, Arts & Literature, and Pop culture.
COSTUMES
Global Quiz Night doubled as a UT Tyler costume contest, and attendees were encouraged to get creative.
Costume contest participants, whether individuals or groups, had their picture taken and displayed on the central television. Every team got three votes in the contest, which takes place during the 15-minute intermission. The top three winners received their choice of available UT Tyler “swag” as a prize.
DOOR PRIZES
Throughout the night, over $2,000 worth of prizes were given away. At the beginning of the event, every person received a playing card. In between rounds, three cards were drawn randomly from a 52-card deck, and winners received UT Tyler memorabilia.
With over 100 students and faculty joining, Global Quiz Night saw significant turnout and lively participation. Overall, the night was about friendly competition, intellectual challenge, and bringing people together.
