The University of Texas at Tyler eSports team live-streamed and won a Valorant gaming tournament Thursday night at the Patriot Zone.
This means they will compete in the divisional finals against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
“We wanted to host this event in order to shine some light on Valorant and the lead-up and celebrate their awesome performance this season,” said Ashley Daniels, the Interim eSports Coordinator.
Valorant is a first-person-shooter computer game developed by Riot Games.

“Kind of think like CS-GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) and Overwatch had a baby and that’s Valorant,” said Daniels. “It’s also like the ‘search and destroy’ mode on COD (Call of Duty).”
eSports will also host another watch party from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on April 15th in the HPC Gymnasium.
