The eighth annual Lyceum was hosted by the Honors College on April 14. The research showcase featured over 130 students’s scholarly projects.

“The Lyceum is one of my favorite days of the year,” said Paul Streufert, Dean of the Honors College. “It gives all of our students a chance to talk about the great work they’re doing at UT Tyler.”

The showcase consisted of three oral presentation sessions and one fine arts session, each session lasting an hour. There were multiple panels of students for every session. Judges and guests were the audience to the students’ presentations.

In the afternoon, the third floor of the University Center was occupied by the poster session, where guests could view and converse with presenters. Of the 130 students, 91 presented posters.

“We’re so proud to see our young scholars talking about ideas and sharing their work with people,” said Streufert. “For me, it’s one of the most inspiring days of the year.”

Graduate and undergraduate students alike shared their work across a variety of disciplines. The number of total presenters was “split evenly between graduate and undergraduates,” says Honors Coordinator Laura Dykes, making for a diverse showcase.
