In an era of anti-corporatism and wanting to maintain an ethical shopping lifestyle, many are searching for stores and organizations that

operate in an ethical manner. Search no further, as the organization “Hangers of Hope” in Tyler deserves your support.

Founded in 2013 to support the Bethesda Health Clinic, Hangers of Hope is a “thrift store on a mission.” Each store purchase goes directly to the clinic’s support, which in turn directly benefits the local community.

The store operates the same way as bigger corporations, such as Goodwill or Salvation Army, in that each item is donated and re-sold for charity. Like these other companies, too, Hangers of Hope offers more than just clothing. Items vary from jewelry and furniture to home supplies and records.

It is found at two locations in Tyler: one on Troup Highway and one on the Loop. Both locations are large and offer a wide selection of items. The staff is welcoming and kind, and the vibe is calm and relaxing.

Shopping as a college student can be challenging, as our budgets are tight. If you are looking for a place to shop on a budget, I would absolutely recommend stopping by Hangers of Hope. Prices are lower than more popular establishments, but you also get the opportunity to directly benefit members of your own community.  It’s a place where you can shop and support a worthy cause at the same time!
