UT Tyler SGA Sets Elections

The Student Government Association aims to serve as a forum for student opinion at the University of Texas at Tyler by communicating to the university the needs of the majority of students.

Every year, the student body elects and votes on SGA officers and representatives.

Officer positions include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and parliamentarian.

The representatives are known as the senators or the judicial board. There are senators for each college including Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences, Business, and Education and Psychology. Additionally, there are senators for each housing facility including University Pines, Ornelas Hall, Liberty Landing, Patriot Village and Victory Village. There are senators for the Student Body at Large. The Houston Campus, Longview Campus and Palestine Campus have two senators each. There is also a judicial board.

The sign-up for election for senators, Executive Board and Judicial Board is happening now The process will run from Feb, 21 at 8 a.m. to March 22 and 5 p.m.

The election will be held from March 28 at noon through March 30 at 5 pm.

Election results will be posted March 31.

Candidacy meetings are required to campaign for a position. All of the candidacy meetings have occurred. Email to schedule a make-up time.
