As a college student, finding food can be a tricky task. Aspects of our lives such as balancing budgets, working through classwork, and any other college-isms take up so much of our time and energy that food sometimes is forgotten about.
So when a new chicken wing place opens up right across from the Soules College of Business, the interests of UT Tyler students are piqued.

Hangry Joe’s Hot Chicken and Wings is a chain fast food restaurant establishment that originated in Virginia, but has spread throughout the United States. The restaurant primarily serves chicken products, such as wings or bites. They also offer waffle fries, milkshakes, and even boba tea. There are different spice levels that a patron can select from for their chicken. I tried the Chicken Tenders, on Mild seasoning, with a Dr. Pepper, and a side order of macaroni & cheese.
Now, for the moment you’ve been waiting for: is Hangry Joe’s good? My answer: absolute yes! I thoroughly enjoyed the food I had at Hangry Joe’s. The chicken was fried to perfection, and the seasoning tasted fantastic. The macaroni & cheese tasted amazing as well.
There was a catch, however. Although the food I ordered tasted phenomenal, the bill was a little high. For three items, I paid $18.44, including tip and tax. For what I got, I think that the total was too steep. Luckily, if you bring your UT Tyler ID, you can receive a 10% off discount, which will help at least slightly.
My final verdict: Hangry Joe’s offers a good time, but you can’t go there all the time. The food was great, truly. But that pricing will add up eventually. I would definitely go again in the future— but only after saving up a bit.
