Fair Enough! UT Tyler Day Sept. 26 Promises Fun, Freebies, Festivities

UT Tyler Day at the East Texas State Fair is Sept. 26. The event promises free entry for UT Tyler students. Additionally, the event will have performances and fair attractions. Community members will receive special discounts.

On the East Texas State Fair’s website, UT Tyler students can print a downloadable ticket which can be used with their student ID to receive free entry that day until 7 p.m.

Community members wearing UT Tyler-branded apparel will get 50% off adult tickets. Student are eligible to receive limited carnival passes and shuttle services from campus.

“I honestly didn’t even know it was a thing, but it sounds like it could be fun if all UT students are encouraged to go,” Phuong Nguyen, a first-year student, said. “I’ll make sure to go.”

UT Tyler Day will feature university groups, Brittany Childs, the Executive Director of Community Engagement and Special Events at UT Tyler, said.

“Performances by UT Tyler ensembles and the Spirit Squad are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the main stage,” Childs said.

Schools and departments will host giveaways which students can enter, Childs said.

MORE ABOUT THE FAIR

  • The fair will take place Sept. 20-29 at 11315 Highway 64 West. This is the first time the fair will be held at this location.
  • Adult admission is $10.
  • Attractions will include a food row, petting zoo, carnival, commercial exhibits and concerts from the main stage.
  • Between Friday and Sunday, the gates will open at 10 a.m. 
  • Between Monday and Thursday, the gates will open at 4 p.m.
