Nyree Brockman coaches students to career success at UT Tyler, and she is inspired by a profound desire to support and nurture the growth of others.
“Witnessing the transformative power of education and the positive impact it can have on individuals’ lives ignited a passion within me to become a catalyst for success,” Brockman said.
Brockman gained experience as a Work-Based Learning Coordinator at a public charter high school. She developed a program that helped students gain essential career skills and transition from high school to college.
She said she is pursuing a master’s degree in human resource development. In doing so, she plans to “gain a deeper understanding of students’ needs, industry needs and effective career development strategies.”
As a career coach, she is available to support over 3,000 students. This includes students in the School of Nursing, School of Health Professions and School Medical Biological Sciences.
Some of her tasks include collecting and analyzing data on students, building relationships to learn about internship jobs and industry insights, planning workshops and events and providing one-on-one guidance to students exploring possible careers.
She said she hopes one day to lead a team of coaches. Furthermore, she hopes to advance career counseling through research, professional development and mentorship.
“My aspirations are driven by a genuine commitment to fostering student success and a belief in the transformative power of education,” Brockman said.
