Game Review

College football fans had been waited a long time for a game to play as their favorite college teams, so you can imagine the hype and their pure joy when EA Sports announced College Football 25.
The release for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 this year marked the long-awaited return to a NCAA themed game by EA (Electronic Arts) dating all the way back to 1993. The company promised a game that would not disappoint fans. After playing it for an extensive amount of time, I can confirm that the game in fact does not disappoint.
You truly feel the atmosphere of a college football game from features giving home-field advantage, stadium-pulse and the famous school fight songs.
Before each game, a cutscene unique to the teams and stadium plays. On top of that, the graphics add to the realism and make you feel like you are part of the experience. Before you even pick up a controller, you have already witnessed what feels like a movie.
The gameplay feels like a mix of the classic NCAA Football and modern Madden. Back are familiar controls, including the option-heavy offense, read-option plays and quarterback scrambles. The one problem on offense is unrealistic tendencies with the defensive players when reacting to passes. This leads to an overabundance of interceptions.
You might also have difficulty trying to run the ball because the offensive line blocking is inconsistent, which can lead to an increase in sacks.
My favorite feature is “Road to Glory” where you create your own player and then guide him through high school and college and eventually to NFL stardom. Each storyline you pick directly impacts your career. This mode offers multiple challenges, drills and games providing a unique playing experience.
Although College Football 25 has a few drawbacks and errors that can cause a frustrating experience, these easily can be overlooked because of the game’s sheer detail, atmosphere, modes and overall presentation.
The game is priced at a hefty $70. It comes with everything needed to experience the game at its highest capability.
If you are on the fence about buying College Football 25, hop over the fence, drive to the store, and buy it. EA has outdone itself and delivered a game true to its roots and one that college football fans deserve.
