The School of Performing Arts hosted a student recital Feb. 18 at the Braithwaite Recital Hall.
It featured six music majors including a pianist, soprano singers and musicians playing a trumpet, saxophone, and euphonium.
“This is one of my favorite events on campus,” AJ Arrington, one of those in attendance, said. “I love watching the variety of performances at the recitals.”
The recital opened with pianist Elena Daughtery and soprano Brandy Buchanan. It ended with Matthew Smith, a euphonium player, performing with Daughtery.
“I had never even heard of a euphonium until today, but I’m glad I did,” Carter Phillips said. “I enjoyed how unique the horn sounded.”
Recitals occur multiple times throughout the semester as a platform to showcase student talent. Located in Cowan Center, Braithwaite Recital Hall is known for its exceptional acoustics and intimate setting.
Admission to recitals is free, inviting the university community and the public to support UT Tyler’s music students.
The School of Performing Arts maintains a calendar of recital dates, times and venues,
