A UT Tyler employee has been arrested for possession of child pornography.
Brandon Baschnagel, 41, of Bullard, was taken into custody by UT Tyler Police, said a statement issued by Henderson County Sheriff’s Office. He remains in Henderson County Jail and is awaiting trial.
Baschnagel was an audio/visual technician prior to the arrest and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the matter, UT Tyler spokesperson Beverley Golden told Tyler television station CBS19.
The Henderson County Crimes Against Children Task Force was informed of a possible child pornography case in November 2024 prompting an investigation.
On Jan. 23, HCSO investigators executed a search warrant along with Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and uncovered child pornography. An arrest warrant was issued on Jan. 30 for Baschnagel for possession with intent to promote child pornography.
HCSO contacted UT Tyler Police Department which arrested Baschnagel, the announcement of the arrest said.
He is being held on bonds totaling $250,000 and faces charges in both Cherokee and Henderson counties.
