The UT Tyler Police Department notified students, staff and faculty members via email on Feb. 25 of a reported sexual assault that took place in university housing the night prior.
The suspect, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, is currently under investigation by UTPD. It is unknown if an arrest has been made. The perpetrator allegedly entered an online group message under the pretense of being a student, and later carried out the assault in a student’s dorm room, according to the email.
UTPD declined requests for additional information, citing that the investigation is active. It is currently unknown which university housing location the incident took place in.
