UT Tyler Volleyball Players Named Lone Star Conference Players of the Week

All three of the Lone Star Conference Player of the Week titles were taken by UT Tyler Volleyball players on Sept. 13, 2022. They recognized Mikayla Ware as the Offensive Player of the Week, Dakota Rogers-Hurtado as the Defensive Player of the Week and Adeline Ortman as the Setter of the Week, according to the Lone Star conference website.

The volleyball team went 3-0 at the Lone Star Conference Crossover in San Angelo, Texas, which took place Sept. 8-10. The team played against Lubbock Christian, Angelo State and West Texas A&M.

The volleyball team has a 5-3 win-loss conference record, and an overall record of 12-7 for the season. Their next match will be at home against Texas Woman’s at 5 p.m. Oct. 14.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mikayla Ware

Ware is a senior outside hitter. She totaled 55 kills and a .248 hitting percentage for the weekend, according to the Lone Star Conference website. She had at least 15 kills in each match, averaging 5.40 kills per set.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dakota Rogers-Hurtado

Sophomore middle blocker Roger-Hurtado had a combined 15 blocks throughout the weekend with 14 kills, according to the Lone Star Conference website. She had a .167 hitting percentage.

SETTER OF THE WEEK

Adeline Ortman

Ortman, a sophomore setter, supplied 111 assists throughout the weekend, says the Lone Star Conference website. She also had four blocks and seven service aces, helping the team through their 3-0 sweep.
