UT Tyler Team Wins Sports Medicine Quiz Competition

SUBMISSION

A team representing UT Tyler health and kinesiology beat 20 other schools in a quiz competition at a state conference.

Timothy Avrerill,  Corb Cannefax and Levi Bell won the Student Bowl at the Texas chapter American College of Sport Medicine convention Feb. 24-25 in Waco. 

The team has been invited to represent Texas at the National ACSM Conference Student Bowl on June 1 in San Diego, California.

“This is a huge honor and the first time that UT Tyler has either won the the TACSM Student Bowl or been eligible to compete at the national level,” Ashley Dalby, a lecturer in health and kinesiology, said in information submitted to the Talon. 

Among the teams Averill Cannefax and Bell beat were Texas A&M, Baylor University, Southern Methodist University and Texas Woman’s University.  

The Student Bowl is a “Jeopardy”-style quiz in which teams answer questions about exercise science.
