UT Tyler’s Dancing Statue a Hidden Beauty

By ANNA ARSEINKO/Staff Contributor

Have you ever toured UT Tyler, walked near the marvelous Harvey Lake, stared at a turtle statue, or wondered if the superstition about the Bell Tower is true?

Well, here is another campus tradition which is often overlooked. Near the Bell Tower, between two connecting buildings, this girl’s statue is hiding among majestic trees.

The fragile ballerina is welcoming students to campus! Covered in bronze, “Spring Dance” was donated by Mrs. Louise H. Ornelas to UT Tyler in 2003. From that moment on, it decorated the campus with its beauty.

Next time you go for a walk, come by and enjoy the view!
