Moving to college and being in an unfamiliar space can be difficult. Senior Breanna Bolle made her campus apartment warm and inviting by crafting a cozy, home-like environment.
For Bolle, being comfortable and making it feel like home was essential.
“I brought so much stuff to make sure I felt comfortable,” she said. “It might be a problem. I have a lot of things.
Upon entering her Liberty Landing apartment, guests should notice the couch adorned with brightly colored throw pillows and blankets.
“For me, home is feeling safe and cozy,” she said. “Being able to jump into a bundle of blankets and escape the worries that come with being a student.”
Above the sofa, a gallery wall displays posters of her favorite artists and movies, plus vintage artwork.
“I really wanted to bring the pictures and decor I had in my previous home so it would feel similar. I also have lamps and other lighting, because overhead lighting feels more commercialized,” Bolle said.
The bedroom has a calmer, more relaxed and cozier vibe due to greens and neutral colors flowing throughout the space. This room features vintage and thrifted art, and even some artwork she designed.
“I would say I follow the maximalist style and sort of the cottage core style,” she said. “I think it’s definitely reflected outside of my bedroom.”
Her furnishings include a large cart full of vinyl records in a wide range of genres she has collected.
Across from the cart are the apartment’s built-in shelves holding items that evoke memories as well as board games, books, knick-knacks and a stuffed Capybara.
“My favorite things are my board games displayed on shelves and the things that make me feel at home: my pillows and throw blankets covering the couch, posters and other wall decor, and my vinyl records,” Bolle said.
