The breezeway between the Hudnall-Pirtle-Roosth Building and Stewart Hall collapsed this Monday afternoon.

Three ambulances and two fire engines arrived at the scene after a call at about 12:30 p.m. The collapse injured three workers, and one of them was hospitalized. Two of the workers were treated at the scene. All the injuries were non-life-threatening.

The breezeway collapse was a part of a planned demolition by the University of Texas at Tyler for their new Steps Project. Last Friday, President Julie Philley revealed in a campus-wide email that the project will begin during the Thanksgiving holiday to minimize impact. Her message advised caution for the University community during the construction process.

No students were harmed in the collapse.
