A loose utility pole caused a power shutdown to the IT building, Police Station, University Pines, and the Foundry at 2:52 p.m. today. The heavy wind and rainfall from Tuesday’s morning storm knocked an electric pole loose. The wind speed index reported a speed of 24 mph around the time of the incident.
“My lights and connection went out right before I heard an explosion” Kelly Stuver, U Pines resident, said.
The loose pole caused all three transformer explosions.
Housing is waiting on the City of Tyler for further information. Workers from the City of Tyler were on site, and they weren’t able to fix it while at the scene.
