On Sept. 25, UT Tyler’s African Student Organization hosted a Game Night at the Soules College of Business.
Students of all nationalities came together to play games, some of which celebrated culture and heritage.
In addition to traditional board games like Connect 4 and Jenga, the event featured a unique Jeopardy-style game called “How African Are You?” This game was not only educational, but it also helped people feel excited and proud of their heritage.
“We’re open to everyone, and everyone is welcome,” Millie Orajiaka, current president of ASO said. She also mentions how this game night gives students “a break from their studies and work.”
Besides being a typical student organization, it also has a two-time championship dance team.
Orajiaka adds that they have two more events planned in October. But in November, in association with the University of Texas at Arlington’s ASO (also known as Mav Melanin), they are hosting a “Fake Wedding” event. Where students can play roles in a wedding.
