Tyler, TEXAS — Patriot women’s soccer stayed undefeated with a 3-0 win over Texas A&M International University on Saturday, improving to 5-0 on the season. This victory marks the first time the program has started 2-0 in conference play since joining the Lone Star Conference in 2019.
Getting On the Board Quick
Senior Brooke Mullins wasted no time putting UT Tyler ahead, scoring not even two minutes into the match off an assist from Natalie Jones. The Patriots stayed in control throughout the first half, with Danica Anaya doubling the lead in the 37th minute for her first goal of the season.
As for the second half, Ava Harris tacked on an insurance goal in the 58th minute, good for the first of her collegiate career, and the Patriots defense was able to keep TAMIU off the board, securing their third shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Robbi Curry made four saves to preserve the clean sheet, and Tyler outshot the Dustdevils 8-9.
Huge Matchup Wednesday
The Patriots will aim to remain unbeaten this Wednesday as they face their first-ranked opponent of 2025, hosting No. 7 Dallas Baptist University (6-0, 2-0) at 6 p.m. on September 24 at Perkins Soccer Complex.
When asked about her team’s big win and the upcoming matchup with DBU, head coach Stefani Webb said, “That was a very talented team we just beat, and we just want to take it one day at a time. Obviously, we know we have big games coming up this week, but if you know anything about the Lone Star (Conference), they’re all big games.”
Wednesday will be the biggest game of the year thus far for women’s soccer, let’s pack the stands!
