Boathouse Ministries To Host a Pickleball Tournament

Boathouse Ministries is hosting a Pickleball Tournament on Sep. 29 at Faulkner Park in Tyler from 6 to 10 p.m. They are hosting this event for students aged 18-25 years old. Those who want to compete are asked to sign up by accessing a QR code found on posters around campus or the Boathouse Ministry’s digital platforms. Although pickleball will be the focus of this event, it is not the only thing that will be available for students there. Food trucks, games, open courts and a space to hang out will be provided.
Boathouse is a college ministry held on Tuesday nights at the Lake Tyler Petroleum Club. It seeks “to see God transform the lives of college-age adults through God’s word, worship, discipleship, and community,” according to the Boathouse website.
The organization began in 2015 when “two guys who loved the lake and Jesus went out on boats with their Bibles.
As local ministries took a break for the summer, they noticed a need for a fun place for college students to continue to worship Jesus in community,” the website says.
Boathouse Director Preston Reese said this event’s purpose is to provide a space for students to “come hang out, connect with one another, and experience a godly community.”
Reese also explained that his hope for the tournament is to draw in non-Christian students and expose them to Jesus. Boathouse exists to be a witness of God, according to the website.
